Kedai Makan: Reviews & Ratings
Oh so Yummy! Stumbled upon this killer Malaysian restaurant while visiting from out of town, and now I’m so sad I live so far away! This was one of the most memorable food experiences I’ve had in a long while. The space is large with a bar up top and more table set on a lower level. We walked past the kitchen on the way to our seats and we knew then we were about to taste something new. We over order but didn’t regret trying the roti with a chickpea curry, village style fried rice, chicken wings, and Laska Lemak curry noodles with prawns for two people. It was a LOT of food, and very fair prices so a great value for sure. The curry noodles and chicken wings were my best bites. With the chicken being perfectly crispy on the outside but so moist and tender on the inside. Be careful not to add too much chili to your curry as it got hot fast we only needed a tiny pinch to get the flavor with some heat. Service was very good but not overly attentive, and there were so kind to explain the difference in flavors. We skipped out of drinks here but they had a fun selection. Will definitely be making my way back here next time I’m in town.
Finally tried Kedai Makan in Cap Hill. The Roti Jala is a must. The roti has a unique texture and the chicken curry is very rich, tangy, and creamy. Plus, the chicken was very tender and juicy. Also tried the Nasi Goreng Kampung with shrimp. It’s packed with flavor and I loved the crunch from the anchovies and fried onions. Definitely coming back. *Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free available
Came in at opening on a Monday. Quiet, good service and good food! The passion old fashioned was a little bitter for my taste. The Laksa Lemak and Mushroom Pan Mee were really good and big! Two people with a medium appetite could split one main and 1-2 sides or appetizers. I’m happy that the vegetarian dishes were yummy.
We stopped in on a whim after walking to the grocery store and I'm so glad we did, the food was really delicious. My husband and I shared the chicken satay, pickled veggies, and chili pan mee. All were fantastic and so was the service. The lighting is really nice in here as well, and for music they had some fun covers of pop songs playing. We also ended up with some discounts on our bill for happy hour which was nice!
I can’t choose my fav. Every dish was amazing. All packed with flavor and made to perfection ( except some dried shrimp in Laksa). The spicy condiments is really good too. Chili Pan Mee is smth new. I have never had anything like it, if you like spicy noodles, you will like it. Service is great too. The servers are very knowledgeable and talked my husband out of trying some crazy drinks lol. Nice chill date night spot on a Friday night.
We tried Kedai Mekan over the weekend, and it was a great experience overall! I ordered the Spicy Margarita, which was really good. We also tried the Rotti with chickpea sauce, the sauce was delicious, but I was expecting a crispy rotti like the ones served at Thai or Indian restaurants, so it wasn’t quite what I expected. For the main dish, we had the Nasi Lemak, which was really good and definitely a highlight of the meal! I was also expecting them to serve draft beer, but unfortunately, they didn’t.
Food was fantastic, particular mention for Roti Babi. Jyanna, our server was friendly and helpful with recommendations. Atmosphere was cheery with just the right balance of whimsical kitsch and warm cozy wood and tile. Would definitely dine here again.
Excellent food, family style a must try. The service was amazing and we really appreciated the vibe and warmth of the place. Would recommend!
